Liz Said: I have to start by saying WOW, we have just received all of our wedding photos and we couldn’t be more thrilled. He has captured so many special moments and nothing too staged which is totally what we wanted. Not only that but the quality and how he has edited the photos they are just perfect.
From meeting him he put us instantly at ease he definitely fit with our laid back approach and during the day he was a pleasure to have about, he had as much enthusiasm as us and made us feel very special. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone if they are wanting beautiful photos taken for any occasion!
10AM. I arrive at the Carr Mill Boathouse to take some shots of the venue before any guests arrive. Within about five minutes, I find myself on a speedboat being raced around the reservoir taking photos of the venue from the water. This might just be the best start to any day of work I've ever had. It was a great warm-up for the day itself (and not the last time I'd find myself on a speedboat).
Liz and Tom are Glastonbury lovers and built their wedding around a festival theme. They had an amazing tipi setup, full of bunting and fairy lights. Liz's Dad had built a bar and a stunning archway for the ceremony which were both unique and perfect for the personality of the day. The whole day had a singular feel to it, from the decoration and flowers to the catering, everything was completely 'Liz and Tom'. I've always wanted to shoot a tipi wedding and found it far less technically challenging than I thought it would be. The whole day was so laid back and fun. Liz and Tom and all their friends and family were very cool and friendly and the wedding was so creative and arty. I'm very grateful to have been a part of it. Massive congratulations Liz and Tom.
On a technical note (for the millions of professional photographers who are no doubt pouring over this!) this is my second wedding shot entirely on a Fujifilm system. I used the X-T2 mainly with the 56mm F1.2 but also the 35 f1.4, 18mm f2 and 90mm f2. I really couldn't be happier with this setup. The lighting in the Tipi was fairly challenging but I honestly think this equipment handled it much better than my Canon 5D would have done. The photos just seemed to need far less work in post. I'm absolutely over the moon with the system.
